WAPDA signed a contract worth Rs. 52.5 billion with China




The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) today marked an agreement worth Rs. 52.5 billion with a joint endeavor of GE Hydro China and Power China Zhongnan Engineering Corporation for electro-mechanical works of Dasu Hydropower Project (Stage-I).


The agreement incorporates configuration, supply and establishment of six francis turbines, generators, principle transformers, generator and station administration switchgear alongside related gear.


Dasu Hydropower Project General Manager/Project Director Anwar ul Haque and GE Deputy General Manager – the approved delegate of GE-PC JV – Aijun Xu marked the agreement for the benefit of their associations in a function held today.


French Ambassador, Chinese and the US representatives, Water Resources Federal Secretary Muhammad Ashraf and WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (Retd) likewise went to the occasion.


WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (Retd), in his invite comments, said that today is a significant day for Dasu Hydropower Project. The venture is of crucial significance to include a significant quantum of hydel power to the National Grid so as to limit dependence on costly warm age and lower the power duty, he further said.
